Two More Hits From Barista On Duty
Last Friday was Veteran’s Day, but this is my Veteran’s Day post because I’m a little bit behind on my coffee review writing. Plus, shouldn’t every day be Veteran’s Day? This review is my Veteran’s Day post because the coffee roaster Barista On Duty is owned and operated by a veteran. Barista On Duty advocates for veterans, coffee farmers (many BODY beans are More Than Fair Trade Certified) and good coffee.
The Drink: Honduran Bourbon From Barista On Duty
Type: Whole Bean Single Origin
Overall Rating: 4.5 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs
First up from Barista On Duty today is the Honduran Bourbon. These More Than Fair Trade Certified beans come from Central America and while these looked roasted slightly darker than what I’ve enjoyed from BODY in the past, I was looking forward to brewing these up.
The Honduran Bourbon started with a sweet, almost candy like aroma. It was followed by a delicious chocolate flavor.
Like the looks, the taste was darker than I’ve ever hand from Barista On Duty (I think someone is trying expand my horizons). And even though it was a darker roast, it was loaded with flavor. I picked up on chocolate and hints of strawberry.
It was a smooth sip with a heavy body.
For a limited time, the Honduran Bourbon is available on the BODY website for $13.
A dark roast Honduran Bourbon probably isn’t my usual cup of coffee, but I kept going back for more. This coffee earned a record setting (try this one!) 4.5 rating on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale. It’s definitely my new favorite dark roast.
The Drink: Kenya AA From Barista On Duty
Type: Whole Bean Single Origin
Overall Rating: 4.5 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs
Next up from Barista On Duty was the Kenya AA, a Fair Trade certified coffee. These beans are probably more along the lines of what I’ve come to expect from BODY, a single origin from Africa that is usually lightly roasted, however there was something different about these…
It started out exactly as I was expecting from Barista On Duty, it had an aroma overflowing with berries. There were strawberries, blueberries and blackberries with an almost syrup like sweetness. There was a tiny hint of chocolate towards the backend.
The taste is where there was a twist. It was darker than I expected, (I’m noticing a trend here) with a hint of smokiness and a dark roast flavor. There was a berry flavor in the background. There wasn’t just a hint, it was an explosion of blueberry that reminded me of a berry syrup.
A six ounce bag of Kenya AA is $10 on the BODY website.
This Kenya AA from Barista On Duty earned an awesome rating of 4.5 on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale. It’s the kind of coffee that a light roast fan and a dark roast fan kind enjoy together.
Wanted to send BODY a thanks one more time for the coffee birthday present! Make sure that you guys and gals check out Barista On Duty this holiday season.

I appreciate you sending me these coffees and focusing on the quality, not the quantity. It makes a difference.
Wow awesome review! Have you tried anymore of his blends, are they all 4.5 stars or better? I’ll have to check theses out to start with.
I think he’s had at least one other 4.5 rating, almost all of the other ones that I’ve tried have been over a 4.
