Vanilla Hazelnut from Honey Bean Coffee Review

The Drink: Vanilla Hazelnut from Honey Bean Coffee
Type: Whole Bean Flavored Coffee
Overall Rating: 3.5 Out Of 5 Coffee Cups

So far this week is hazelnut coffee week at Daily Shot Of Coffee. It wasn’t anything intentional, but yesterday I review the Hazelnut flavor from N.O. Brew. This time I’m back to whole beans and trying Vanilla Hazelnut from Honey Bean Coffee. Non-hazelnut fans, don’t worry tomorrow there’s nothing hazelnut related planned.

As the coffee brewed, the vanilla-hazelnut aroma filled my kitchen. Some people might find it to be too much, but I savored the aroma, it reminded me of a candle smell.

A few minutes later, the aroma coming directly from my cup was even more intense, with vanilla dominating it.

I expected the vanilla-hazelnut to dominate the flavor too, but I was wrong. A strong nutty coffee taste controlled the my tongue. The vanilla and hazelnut flavors were kept on the edges of my tongue. I also picked up on some hints of chocolate.

One other thing that really stood out to me about this coffee was how smooth it was. There wasn’t a drop of bitterness in this coffee.

After a few cups, I was ready to say that this is one of my favorite flavored coffees that I’ve tried in a while. I’d even go as far to say that this is a coffee that even coffee purists could enjoy. For coffee drinkers who like flavored coffee, but want to get more into traditional coffee flavors, this would be a perfect coffee.

Vanilla Hazelnut from Honey Bean Coffee earned a well above average rating of 3.5 out of 5 coffee cups. I could see myself drinking a lot of this coffee suggest you give it a whirl (such an under used word) next time you’re looking for some new coffees to try.

Disclosure time! Honey Bean Coffee sent me this for review purposes. That didn’t influence my final decision. I give every coffee a fair and honest review, no matter how it got to my house. Disclosure part 2: Some of the links above are what they call affiliate links. If you click on one of those and buy coffee from Honey Bean, I’ll get a small commission, probably enough where if a few people bought via the link, I could buy a cup of coffee.

  1. Mike,

I tend to like really strong, bold, coffee and drink it black, so I tend to stay away from the flavored coffees. But this one sounds really tasty. I might have to give it a go.

    • I think you’re like Devon. This is one of the few flavored coffees that I think even non-flavored coffee drinkers could enjoy.

  2. Mike and all,
Your coffee of the day sure has my taste buds going crazy for some of the same.
I’ll have to start my search to see if vanilla hazelnut is available here. As I was reading another message I had this thought in the back of my mind and wanted to ask you and others a question.

What is the earliest memory you have from childhood of your family’s coffee habits or something related to serving coffee years ago that stands out in your mind ???

Many times my parents had guests over after they were out on the town and I remember my Mom had this bright and shiny percolator with a long swan like pouring spout. It sat on the big buffet in the dining room and did it’s perking while she served the cinnamon coffee cake on her best china. My parents drank their coffee black but put the sugar and cream out for their guests. Also my father was Italian and often put a shot of anisette in his cup. I remember dancing to the “perk beat” and smelling the A & P Bokar coffee that came in a black bag with red dot in the center. When my parents went grocery shopping the big thrill for me was sitting in the back seat holding the bag of coffee that was freshly ground in the store. Back in the stone age when I was growing up that was a new thing (store ground). I must say “coffee memories” bring back many good thoughts how we lived and what we ate and drank. Oh! I was riding in a pea green ’49 Plymouth!

    • Geri – I have to say the flavor on this coffee was great. I’m looking forward to making another pot of it.

My earliest coffee memories aren’t so exciting. I had asthma pretty bad growing up and one way to calm down an attack is with coffee. One time we were out along the coast and of course I didn’t have my inhaler. My asthma started acting up so my dad gave me some of his coffee. I don’t remember it being the greatest, but it did take care of my attack.

  3. Sounds like some decent coffee. I really liked Hazelnut flavored ones but have never had a vanilla hazelnut. Might have to try some of it out.

    • I think it’s the first time that I’ve had a Vanilla Hazelnut coffee too. I like them desperately, together seems to be even better.

Thanks for stopping by over here. Enjoyed looking at your website earlier.

    • I think that you would really like their flavored coffees. They have lots of other flavored coffees, so definitely check out their website when you get some time.
