Veteran’s Day And Coffee

American Flag In Penn Station

Really no typed words is enough to express thanks to the soldiers that have served and are serving. You guys and gals get the deepest possible thanks that I can give.

There’s several coffee companies that are actively helping our veterans and supporting our troops overseas. One way that we can honor our soldiers is to make our next coffee purchase through these companies.

Black Ass Coffee
Not only do they roast some excellent coffee, including a dark roast that I even liked, but they also have a G.I. Java Care Package. Buy one bag for yourself and they’ll send another to a soldier overseas.

Barista On Duty (BODY)
The founder of BODY is a United States Marine Corps veteran and pan roasts (artisan hand crafted coffee) some world class coffee. I’ve reviewed the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and I can’t wait to review the other two they sent me. Also, they has a program called Agent Black Coffee where soldiers can request coffee. They’re accepting coffee donations for the soldiers.

Best Thing To Happen To Coffee
Not only does Best Thing To Happen To Coffee have some delicious coffees, but they send at least forty pounds of coffee overseas every month.

Coffee Beanery
Coffee Beaney sends coffee to the troops through Operation Care Package every year. Right now you can donate a pound of coffee to the troops for $5 and they will match it.

Community Coffee
Community Coffee has the Military Match Program, customers of Community Coffee Company have helped send thousands of pounds of coffee to troops abroad since the program began in 2005, with more coffee on its way to APO or FPO addresses all the time. The Military Match program provides an opportunity for friends and family to purchase four bags of traditional Red Bag Community ground roast coffee, and in turn the company will match the order with four bags free.

Check out their “Our Troops” photo album on Facebook.

Green Beans Coffee
Green Beans Coffee operates cafes serving military personnel in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Qatar, Djibouti, Africa and domestically at military bases across North America. A percentage of every sale is donated to charities like TAPS and Soldiers Angels that strive to improve the life for disabled armed services members, military families and their children. Plus, they have a program where you can directly buy coffee for soldiers serving overseas called Cup Of Joe For A Joe. You can give a hot cup of coffee to a solider for as little as two bucks.

Green Mountain Coffee
Green Mountain Coffee donates 3,000 pounds coffee to Holy Joe’s Cafe, to troop cafes in Iraq and Afghanistan and donates to Fisher House. (The Fisher House provides free and low cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers.)

Holy Joe’s Cafe
Holy Joe’s Cafe is a national effort of First Congregational Church of Wallingford, CT. They are sending free coffee to deployed chaplains in support of their ministry to our troops.

Newhall Coffee Roasting Company
Newhall Coffee has the Patriot Blend, purchase a bag they’ll send free coffee to an active duty military man or woman. This is the other coffee I was hoping to taste today, but will do as soon as my taste buds return to normal.

Rogers Gourmet Coffee
Rogers Gourmet Coffee offer free shipping for all orders to all military APO/FPO addresses. Through the end of 2009, each order will be shipped with an additional bag (12oz) of coffee for troops to share with their friends.

I know there’s more out there, so if you know anymore please mention them in the comments below or send me an email using the contact form. Thanks!

Thanks Mike For This Posting. I Would Just Like To Say I Love It When The Companies Support The Troops Overseas, I Think Thats Noble & Righteous Of Them All. I Do Have A Problem With Them Being Seasonal, Almost Like It’s Just A Sales Ploy. I’m Not Saying All Of Them, But I Mean As Far As I’m Concerned It’s Veteran Day Everyday For Me. Lastly What Happens To The Troops When They Come Home ? I’ll Tell Ya They Forget About Us! With My Company My Goal Is Not Only Supporting Troops Overseas, But Also Helping The Ones That Make It Back Home Abled & Disabled. Being A Disabled Veteran Not Only Do I Know The Struggle Of Coming Back Home & Trying To Adjust To Civilian Life, But The System That We All Fought To Protect, Only Cares About Getting Pay Raises & Basically Turning Their Backs On Many. I Will Stop Here I Didn’t Know I Could Write So Much. I Salute All You Civilians That Genuinely Care. Semper Fi

You have a great point. From the veterans I know, I’ve heard similar things. Then of course, I heard more about in the past few days, but being a veteran isn’t just a one day thing….it’s year round.
