Waking Up With Wake Up Call

I sampled and tasted dozens of coffees before deciding choosing Puerto Rican Sunrise and Wake Up Call as the official coffees of Daily Shot Of Coffee. These coffees stood out from the crowd and I knew I had two winners the moment they hit my tongue. Wake Up Call was the perfect mix of acidity, body and flavor. It earned the name by completely waking me up on a dreary Monday morning and filled my brain with positive energy and great ideas.

Wake Up Call comes from the from the Selva Negra Coffee Estate in in the highlands of Nicaragua’s Matagalpa region. There the coffee is sustainably grown in the shade, using organic and bird friendly methods. It’s Rainforest Alliance certified.

Wake Up Call has an aroma that’s unique and inviting. It’s a mild nutty flavor with hints of lemon, mint and a slightly earthy scent. Smell it again a few minutes later and it’s sweeter with hints of apple.

The taste is mouth watering. It has a medium acidity with a mild nutty taste. There’s hints of citrus fruits, mint and a spiciness that reminds me of a great Central American coffee. The after taste is slightly darker.

The sip starts off smooth on the tongue, but finishes with a dry feeling. It has a medium body.

Every bag of Wake Up Call is custom roasted when you order it, not weeks or months before. My favorite is the medium roast, but the beans can also be roasted light or dark.

Try Wake Up Call for yourself. It’s available for $11.98 a pound in the Daily Shot Of Coffee store. It comes in whole bean or can ground for your preferred brewing method.

  1. Anything that speaks of coffee is most glorious indeed! Peasant that I am, I survive with Maxwell House ground.

But I go thru several cups, does that count? :)
