What I’m Drinking – Breakfast Blend From Community Coffee
The Drink: Breakfast Blend From Community Coffee
Type: Ground
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5
Today, I woke up with the Breakfast Blend from Community Coffee. It’s my third coffee from the family owned coffee company out of New Orleans, I enjoyed the Cafe Special, thought the House Blend was a good alternative to Starbucks coffee, but the Breakfast Blend really didn’t stand out to me.
I think it’s a very drinkable coffee, I would have no problem paying $7.99 a pound for it, but compared to the other coffees I’ve been drinking this week, it’s like going from a Ferrari to a Mustang. It’s probably not fair to test drive the Ferrari before the Mustang, but I did it anyways.
The Breakfast Blend is a Medium Dark roast made with 100% arabica beans from around the world.
It had a rich coffee aroma with hints of chocolate, the smell of leaves and some spices like paprika and basil.
The dark roast dominated and controlled the flavor with an ashy taste, but it was in no way overwhelming. If you like dark roasts, you’ll like this one. Underneath that, there was a sweet taste with honey and an overall mellow taste, which “is a distinctive way to ease into the day.”
It’s a change of pace for me, but I really enjoyed waking up with this coffee. At the price, it’s perfect for an everyday coffee.
I should mention that I tried the ground version, which does have a best buy date of Christmas of this year, but I do wonder if whole beans would’ve been better.
Overall, I gave it a 3 out of 5 rating, I wouldn’t mind waking up with this coffee on a regular basis.
