Before I even began brewing the Cinnamon Roll flavored coffee from Community Coffee, I felt like I was walking past a Cinnabon with fresh baked cinnamon rolls inside. The distinctive smell rushed out of the bag, as I scooped it into my coffee maker.

The aroma in my cup was a little more muted, but still smelled delicious. It was more sweet, almost like I had a piece of a cinnamon roll with extra glaze on my fork. Mixed in were hints of brown sugar, butter and just a little bit of raisin.

The taste of the coffee itself, shocked me. It was more “mature” than I expected. The coffee was surprisingly bold tasting, with a rich Central American arabica bean flavor. The sweetness I had smelled just a minute before, was replaced with a bitter, more serious coffee taste. Still, there were some hints of vanilla and cinnamon.

This was a ground coffee, but with the impressive aroma and flavor, the thought didn’t even cross my mind that it was supposed to be stale or lifeless like so many other ground coffees.

Based on this weeks poll, I understand that this coffee isn’t for everyone because it’s flavored, but if you like cinnamon rolls, you owe it to yourself to try it.

I gave this coffee a three out of five rating, the only thing missing from this coffee was the actual cinnamon roll. I must warn you, drinking this coffee will make you want to go out and buy a fresh cinnamon roll.
