The Drink: Costa Rica Tarrazu from Best Thing To Happen To Coffee
Type: Whole Bean
Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5
If you’re looking for a coffee that’s full of energy and will wake up your taste buds, check out the Costa Rica Tarrazu from the Best Thing To Happen To Coffee.
When I made this coffee, it was mid afternoon and I was starting to hit the part of the day where all i wanted to do was lay my head down on my desk and go to sleep. I’m not going to say that it was the only thing keeping me functioning, but the burst of flavor was impressive.
The aroma coming from my coffee cup had several levels of smells including orange, mint and chocolate.
It took me about three or four sips to really grasp everything that was going on in this coffee. It pops with flavor. There was a bold, slightly bitter taste at first. However, it wasn’t long before it was replaced with something smoother that was slightly sweet.
I tasted oranges, a little bit of lime and a chocolate cake taste around the edges of my tongue. There was a lingering cinnamon taste that hung around on my tongue, that I really enjoyed.
One thing that the Best Thing To Happen To Coffee prides themselves in, is that their coffee is very stomach friendly. They roast their coffee in a pure, natural process that reduces the amount of acids that cause stomach problems, while not cutting down the other kind of acidity, the kind related to a flavorful coffee.
With it’s warm flavors, it struck me as more of an afternoon coffee, perfect for the summer. I’m going to have to try it as an iced coffee.
Overall, it was another delicious coffee from the Best Thing To Happen To Coffee. It wasn’t my favorite, the 100% Kona is still my favorite, but it’s still a great coffee, an easy 3.5 out of 5 rating.
The Costa Rica Tarrazu is on sale right now for $8.99, normally $15.00 a pound. I’d pay the $15, but the $8.99 is an amazing value.

Hmmmm Sounds very nice, I haven’t had my coffee fix today, so I’m off to have one now, shame I haven’t got the one you’ve reviewed, but beggars can’t be choosers
What type of coffee did you end up getting?
@Mike, a simple coffee I’m afraid, but I’m shopping on the weekend so I’m going to try something different for a change
I’ve definitely been there, however, there is nothing like a good cup of coffee.
