The Drink: McDonald’s McCafe Iced Mocha
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 Coffee Cups
Last month, I tried the McDonald’s Iced Mocha and I really wasn’t too impressed. I didn’t really like the taste of the espresso they used, it really didn’t have much mocha flavor and overall it tasted bland and over processed. However, I’m a believer in second chances so I went back and tried it again.
What I got at the drive thru window this time didn’t even look or taste like the drink that I had tried before.
From the very first sip, I could taste the espresso, it wasn’t the best espresso I’ve ever had, but it was a major improvement. Plus, the mocha flavor was much more defined.
Mcdonald’s is going to hate this, but Starbucks is still my first choice Iced Mochas (at least until I’m able to make my own at home). I can definitely see myself getting the McDonad’s Iced Mocha on a regular basis, but the after taste is what really kills me. There’s just something about it that really takes it down a couple notches.
Overall, the McCafe drinks are starting to grow on me. I think they’re a lot better than Dunkin Donuts and I’m sure McDonald’s will see their sales increase, but if they really want to take over the coffee world, they need to continue to improve their ingredients.

I agree. Much better than Dunkin’. Not in Starbucks territory. But I have 18 free coupons, so I will be a happy camper at the Golden Arches for the next two weeks. I will even occasionally order 2 Egg McMuffins ($3 deal) to extend my mocha bliss.
That should keep you loaded on Iced Mocha’s for a while. I know I’d be a happy camper.
Are you sure there is coffee in the Iced Mocha? It tastes like that mocha flavored chocolate syrup from Nestle and all they did was mix it with some milk, pour it over ice with a big gob of it on the bottom. I like them, but I’m doubting whether or not there is any real coffee in them. If they are putting coffee in them, it must be instant (Nescafe). I agree that they are good and Starbucks is way better, but even better is Eistein Bros. Yum!
