What I’m Drinking – Nectar Of Life Morning Dew

The Drink: Nectar Of Life’s Morning Dew
Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Coffee Cups

A couple of weeks ago, I won a bag of Nectar Of Life’s Morning Dew coffee from the Coffee Cup News blog. If you haven’t been over there, you should check it out today, there’s lots of great coffee reviews and informative coffee videos.

Nectar Of Life’s Morning Dew is a Fair Trade and Organic certified coffee.

This blend is comprised of the finest shade grown, Arabica, Fair Trade, organic coffees Sumatra and Central America have to offer. The Sumatran coffee is Grade 1 and was grown on small 3-5 acre farms in the Gayo Mountain region. Grown in volcanic soils and minimally processed, this Sumatra is a full-bodied, earthy coffee. The Central American coffees are Strictly Hard Bean (SHB), meaning they were grown at high elevations, in this case over 4500 ft. They are shade grown coffees that ripen slowly yielding a dense bean structure, firm acidity, and intense floral aromas.

It’s a blend of medium and dark roasts and they describe it as complex, robust and full bodied.

I’ve noticed with some medium-dark roast blends, the darker roast overwhelms the flavor, but with this coffee it’s different. It has a very smooth taste overall, with just hints of smoke.

The describe the taste as floral with hints of chocolate and nuts. I definitely got the nutty taste, a slight smidgen of chocolate and what I would call vegetable undertones. It reminded me of green grass or leaves.

Jason from Coffee Cup News didn’t seem to like this coffee, but I enjoyed the taste and if I was looking for an every day coffee that’s very earth conscious, this would be on the top of my list.

This rates as one of those coffees I have to try just for the name!

I had a feeling it was a coffee you might like it, especially since it’s certified with just about everything! Nectar Of Life, seems like a stand out coffee company.
