What I’m Drinking – New York Coffee Park Ave Blend

New York Coffee - Park Ave BlendPart of the problem with trying new things, is that you make bad decisions sometimes. My bad decision was the four pounds of New York Coffee that I bought from Coffee For Less.

I should’ve known that the price was just too good, $24.95 is too cheap for four pounds of coffee, especially when you add in the bonus electric mug that was included.

They got me though, the description sounded mouth watering.

Broadway Blend- A cuppers delight – a combination of 2 roasts- a medium roast and a dark roast to create the ultimate cup!

Park Ave Blend- Warm up with our delicious French vanilla and caramelized caramel

44th St Blend- Enjoy the sweet intense flavor of Butterscotch and toffee without the calories

Lexington Ave Blend- The ultimate dessert coffee- a crème brulee combined with a rich chocolaty Fudge.

The first bag that I opened was the Park Ave Blend. There was a small hint of both French vanilla and caramel aroma, but the taste was nothing to write home about. I think I’ve had better coffee from Folders.

It was drinkable, but I wouldn’t go much further than that. I normally drink four to six cups of coffee a day, but Park Ave actually made me want to drink less. I found myself drinking only a couple cups a day and with my caffeine addiction, it wasn’t a very good place to be.

The problem was that the coffee was stale. There wasn’t any roasting date on the package, in fact there wasn’t much at all on the bag besides the brand name and the name of the flavor.

I tried to find out more information on their website, but it might the most anonymous, uninformative website that I’ve come across recently. They only listed the same information, word for word as the Coffee For Less product description.

On the New York Coffee website and the Coffee For Less website, it was listed as an introductory offer to only the first thousand of people. Now, the copyright on the site says 2006, it was the only product listed on their site, are they still claiming to be offering it to the only the first thousand?

I should be fair, I still have three other coffees to try, maybe one of them will make me change my mind about New York Coffee.

I’m going to try ordering from Coffee For Less again, maybe I just made a bad choice this time. When they emailed my receipt, it said that some orders take longer because they come directly from the roaster. I’ll have to choose one of those next time because I have a feeling that some of the others sit in their warehouse for a while.

Updated May 1, 2009: Coffee For Less contacted me and offered to send me another bag of the Park Ave Blend. I can’t wait to try it and see how it compares. Full review coming soon.
