The Drink: On The Go Vanilla Latte
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 Coffee Cups
Avoid the On The Go Vanilla Latte from General Foods International Coffee at all costs. I didn’t even finish a cup and if I can’t finish a caffeinted drink, it’s pretty bad sign.
The On The Go Vanilla Latte is an instant coffee drink, so I didn’t have high hopes for it, but I remembered enjoying the coffee drinks that came from small International Coffee tins that my grandma had in her cupboard, so I thought I would at least give it a shot.
The first bad sign was that the powdered mix looked like hot chocolate and smelled somewhat like it too.
When I added water and stirred, foam did appear on the top like a real latte, but that’s about where any similarities came to an end.
It tasted like medicine blended with a bland hot chocolate mix. It might be the worse coffee drink that I’ve ever tasted.
Thirty minutes later, I can still taste the processed, so-called latte on my tongue.
I received it as a free sample and I’m still thinking about asking for my money back. If you’re looking for an instant coffee drink for while your at work, check out the Starbucks VIA Instant coffee, or stop at the corner gas station and get one of those instant cappuccinos, anything would be an improvement.
Do you have a coffee horror story that you’re not afraid to share?

I personally have never found an Instant Coffee (or Gas Station Coffee) that I could enjoy on a day to day basis or even for a one time thing.
Even if I am going on say a camping trip I will bring a stove top brewer or a french press with already ground coffee. These are both great options for such an outing as you can brew a fresh pot on the fire with no electricity needed. And since I always bring bottled water with me I have the key ingredients needed for a great cup of coffee.
I need to do a more in depth post on this I think.

Jason, I think that would be a great post.
I also think you reminded me that I really need to look more into getting a french press. It sounds like it’ll take my coffee drinking to the next level.
And of course, thanks for stopping by!

Not a chance I would ever try it, solely based on the packaging alone, thank you for another excellent detailed review. Your brave for giving this coffee a taste test.

I have this bad habit of tasting anything coffee/caffeine related, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose big time.
