The Drink: Port City Coffee Roasters – Bed And Breakfast Blend
Type: Whole Bean
Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 coffee cups

If you’re not buying coffee from the Port City Coffee Roasters, you’re missing out on some good coffee. Earlier this week, I enjoyed their Mudslide flavored coffee. Today, I tried their Bed And Breakfast blend.

The Bed And Breakfast is a blend of Central and South American coffees. They describe it as having a Colombian heritage, medium roast with a hint of dark roast for extra flavor. Besides flavored coffee, medium roast blends are always on the top of my shopping list so I couldn’t wait to give it a shot.

The coffee had a smooth, relaxing aroma with a hint of freshly cut wood. I’ll admit that I haven’t tasted a lot of freshly cut wood, but that’s the image that I had when smelled it. I know, I’m kind of weird, but it’s what I got.

The taste was complex with a lot of different layers and things going on. There was two or three different coffee tastes that I was getting as well has hints of what I call green – vegetables mixed with grass. There was a little bit of chocolate and herbal tea in the taste too. It was really an enjoyable taste to have in my mouth.

Overall, it had a full body with a smooth taste that I really liked drinking. It’s the perfect kind of coffee to drink on a daily basis, especially in the morning to get you going.

I gave it a 3.5 out of 5 cup rating, it’s above average and way better than the so-called Medium Roast from Dunkin Donuts that I had yesterday. However, it really isn’t fair to compare to the Dunkin Donuts coffee, because the Port City Coffee Roasters are really playing in a whole different ballpark.

You can buy the Bed And Breakfast blend at the Port City Coffee Roasters website for $10.95 a pound in ground or whole bean forms. Of course, they have many other coffees to check out. I still have a couple more to review, but I can already tell you that just about whatever you order from there is going to be satisfying for your palate.

You seem pretty laid-back in this video, Mike. … Are you sure you’re not actually a Dodgers or Cardinals fan or something???

LOL I think the Dodgers are one of the NL teams that I can tolerate, but after living in Chicago for five years, I’ve grown to hate the Cardinals.

Great post, Mike! Bed & Breakfast is one of my favorite “regular” coffees. The little bit of dark roast really gives it that extra flavor.

Thanks. I think the Bed & Breakfast is a coffee that I could see myself drinking on a regular basis.

Well, feel free to order some. =)

I definitely will be. I’m a little overwhelmed with coffee right now, enough to keep me over caffeinated for a while, but at least now I know another good place to get quality coffee.
