What I’m Drinking – Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino

Caramel Frappuccino

The Drink: Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 Coffee Cups

The weather here on the Florida Suncoast is perfect for a Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino. The temperature here is on the verge of becoming unbearable, and even when there’s a breeze, it’s so hot and muggy that just walking to and from my air conditioned house to my air conditioned car, I start to sweat.

Most of the time during the warmer months, I get the Mocha Frap on a regular basis, but I thought I would give the Caramel Frappuccino a shot. I enjoyed the hot Caramel Macchiato recently, so this Frap seemed like a safe bet.

The Starbucks Frappuccino is a blended ice drink made with espresso, sugar, milk and flavored syrup, in this case caramel.

It’s topped with whipped cream and more caramel. My drink was beautiful made, almost to the point where I didn’t want to drink it. I’m starting to notice how much detail goes into some drinks and how some baristas can really turn it into an art.

But more important than looks, what did it taste like?

Unlike a lot of the other cold so-called coffee drinks I’ve had lately, I could almost feel the espresso on my tongue. It had a bold, but very easy to drink taste.

It has the caramel smell and favor but it’s not overwhelming enough where it hides the coffee.

The Mocha Frap is still going to be my favorite, the Caramel might have just been a little too sweet. However, I’d have no hesitations about getting it again.

I’m still looking for a Starbucks drink that can compete with my treasured Mocha, but there’s a long, steamy summer ahead so I’ll have plenty more opportunities to try others.

Do you have a favorite Frap that you think I should try?

I don’t always “need” all the caffeine that the Caramel Frappuccino has….do they make (or can they) make a 1/2 espresso version or decaf? that you know of.

Sorry for the super long delay. I was told there’s no half espresso version or one that is decaf because they do make it from a premade mix.

I don’t think they can Linda, since it’s made from a premade mix but let me see if I can get a definite answer for you.
